So, i got some new colored pencils. Not prismas, but not really cheap ones either and to try them out I decided to draw some pokemon.
The picture took about 3 hrs to draw and color. I don't like the way Linoone or Trapinch came out. I blended the color outside of the lines.....should have gotten those blending sticks when i had the chance. Once I screwed him up I blended using my white colored pencil. which funnily enough is actually more yellow than the white paper i draw on. It's an egg color.
The human character in the middle of all the pokemon is me. :)
Oh, and i forgot to shade on this picture, but so many things were getting smeared and messed up I had to stop.

also, I have a head cold which makes me feel like all my senses are dulled.

Took a while for me to get around to Uncle Ruckus. I was going to do Riley, but I could not get him to come out for me. I will try again, of course, but for now Ruckus will have to do.

I don't know how many more characters I will be doing. I am going to try and do other stuff too. Just so my art isn't all Boondocks.

I was thinking about drawing some pokemon. Yes, i know it's more fanart, but I'm not good enough yet to create my own stuff yet. I really am just a human copy machine at this point. I can't imagine stuff in my head and draw it. I have to be able to see what I'm drawing.

I am trying to learn how to draw dragons. I got a 'how to' book by Jessica Peffer. I really need to work on the process of starting with lines and shapes then going to finer details. I actually already drew one dragon. I want to work on him a bit more before I post him on here though. His name is Brye.

I really love online comics, but the one that I am continuously checking is Jolly Jack's "Sequential Art". His comic, along with sketches and links to his merchandise can be found on collectedcurious.com.

I've been wanting to do this picture for a while, but I told myself that it would wait till after I finished my Boondocks pictures. However, when I was trying to draw Riley Freeman I couldn't get it to come out the way I wanted. I think it's because the picture i choose isn't looking directly forward. Before you ask, I am not going to do his 'Scarface' picture. I've noticed that's been done a lot. So, I'm going to 'Che' another picture of his. If I can get the sketch of the little rascal to come out right. :P

Anyways, I'm not thrilled with how Scarlet came out. I think it's cause I'm working with traditional media, completely, and I'm none to experienced with drawing. I had a friend who told me i should just get a tablet. I don't think I'm going to buy to much right away. Going to see if i stick with this.

What can I say other than that I liked my sketch (which I put in the scrapbook) better than his Che. Though, I do like how the grey and the black look together.

I'm tempted to redo this because I messed up on his chin. I wasn't sure where to shade and where not to because of his wrinkles. And since you can't undo permanent marker...What i ended up with was a messed up chin.

I might end up doing Uncle Rukus after all. My boyfriend likes Rukus.

P.S.
I've started my summer courses. I'm taking calculus and english. We're reading American fiction writers in this course.

I recently got into the Boondocks cartoon. I had seen it a few times before in my life, but I have some friends who really like it so, I've been more aware of new episodes and what not.

I've watched all the old episodes already. Seasons 1 and 2. I love all the characters, except for Uncle Rukus. He's funny, but he really bothers me. Not just because of his racism, but his looks and how he acts all the time. It seems like every show has one character that is always slightly grating on the personality.
In House, it's the doctor who has troubles with cheating on his wife. (The balding one.)
As a child, the character with the drill for a nose annoyed the crap out of me.
and in Boondocks, it's Uncle Rukus.

Anyways, I've decided 'Che-ify' some of the characters.
I did Huey first cause he is my favorite about 90% of the time and he already had a Che picture. However, I wanted it to be blue.
Using markers however, comes with the problem of having a bunch of lines. To avoid them, as much as possible, one has to layer on the color and this made the blue in the picture very dark. Thankfully, the flash on the camera brightened it up.
I'm slightly disappointed that it didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted to, but I still love it. If only because this returning back to drawing....not just doodling...is really fulfilling. I'll be excited about any comments!

Jazmine came second because I think she is adorable. You'll notice I've uploaded several versions of the picture. However, it's all the same piece of paper! I'm glad I took a picture of Jazmine before she was colored in. Though, I don't think the color ruined the picture in this case. I just find it funny and odd that in one case, due to lighting, it came out more purplish than it actually is.

At this point, I'm thinking a scanner might be a good investment. I looked it up on the internet to see about prices. Not cheap! I'd prefer to get a scanner/printer mix and I think that is what is driving up the cost. Perhaps, buying them separately would be better?

If I had to do this again I would change the medium. Possibly oils.

I'm just super excited about this turn of affairs!

P.S.

I plan on doing Riley, Grandpa, and Ming as well. (Ming was the Chinese man's granddaughter who played kickball.) If I can do these successfully I plan on trying to 'Che-ify' McGruger.

After that....who knows?
